Pat, does this ever bring back memories! As a kid, my dad was a real steam railroad nut. Anything and everything railroad, including a huge HO layout in the basement. We had a NKP Brekshire on the basement layout, called "Willowgrove and Western Railroad". The 2-8-4 was a fantastic machine in its day . . . perhaps the pinacle of steam power. Our HO engine was number 779 . . . and I remember when the real 765 came into town on a tour. We had to pack up the family and go out to the old railroad yards in Buffalo to see the engine in person. Your pic is a real treat! Thanks!
Patricia Januszkiewicz replied:
Thank you so much Gordon for your story! The 765 was in town last weekend and again this weekend. Amazing how many people came out to see it ... some even said they follow it all around the country. It was great to see it and the train made many passes in an area so people could photograph it ... I came upon the event by accident and was so very happy about it .... It was a real treat to be in its presence .... patricia
