Went to Death Valley every year from 1970 - 1992 with a couples Motorcycle club in Febuary, camping outside the valley at the Hot Springs on the west side. Went to lots of places in the valley, never happened on this view, its big place. 8) Love the colors. Fav, V

I feel like we are kindred spirits! Death Valley is one of my favorite places. Dante's View is part of the Black Mountains and in this picture you are looking down at Badwater. Very appreciative of your comments and Fav, V ..... patricia ..... Here is a bit of interesting info: Dante's View is a filming location in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It shows the city of Mos Eisley located in the center of Death Valley. The scene is the one where Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2-D2 and C-3PO approach Mos Eisley and stop to watch the city from a view point. That view point is Dante's View.
