Great shot. When in art school years ago, one of my classmates told me father or grandfather did the girl this way as a joke and pinned it in the hallway. She was made to look pregnant. They were having a hard time coming up with something Morton approved of. He visited. saw the girl and picked it!

Thanks Joe! love the story!

Love this and can't wait to hang it on my wall. I grew up very close to the Morton salt plant in Mentor. I remember going there with my dad in the winter with a huge bucket to fetch rock salt from the giant mountains they kept outside.

Thank you, Matt! I am so very happy you let me know the significance of this photograph. I have been to Mentor Headlands Dunes State Nature Preserve many times and have seen the Morton Salt Plant .. I believe the company has donated many acres of land in that area for wildlife preservation. The area has one of the largest natural marshes remaining on Lake Erie; so important for fish and bird migration and much of the land donated by Morton Salt Company. I always think it is amazing that Lake Erie has so many salt mines ... was a salty sea so many many years ago ... Again, thank you for your purchase and sharing your story with me. patricia
